The Center for Behavioral Health was part of AdventHealth Orlando (formerly known as Florida Hospital). The Center for Behavioral Health department name is no longer being used. A statement of the present-day status would be more appropriate in a description of Dr. Allen's experience with, of course, mentioning his experience/affiliation with AdventHealth since 1997. Florida Hospital did a company-wide rebranding and the name changed to AdventHealth in 2019, and Dr. Allen is no longer Medical Director. He is presently the Section Chairman for the Department of Psychiatry at AdventHealth Orlando.
Dr. Allen is board-certified in both general and geriatric psychiatry and holds academic appointments at Florida State University College of Medicine, Nova Southeastern University, AdventHealth University and LECOM (Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. A strong advocate for community involvement. Dr. Allen serves on the Board of Directors for the Mental Health Association of Central Florida. He participates in the Maturing Minds™ advisory committee, and volunteers at Shepherd’s Hope, a non-denominational healthcare organization. He also has specialized training in Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), both of which are effective treatment options for treatment-resistant depression.
